The illegal bird trade is a major threat to wild birds. Despite being better-monitored taxa, trade dynamics of birds is still unexplored causing difficulty to combat illegal bird trade in Nepal. The trade is increasing rapidly further aggravating the risk to wild birds. The baseline data is crucial for advocacy, awareness, and to inform proactive policy responses by governments and conservation partners to prioritize the illegal bird trade issues. Likewise, public awareness backed by scientific evidence is crucial to deter them from involving in illegal trade. This project, thus, aims to explore the trade, develop awareness materials, and disseminate them widely for public awareness. In the long term, this project intends to support the enforcement to monitor and regulate bird trade.
