“Nepal is already a signatory of China’s Belt and Road Initiative which could increase market access and trafficking of wildlife,” says Kumar Paudel, co-founder at Greenhood Nepal

According to Kumar Paudel, a researcher on pangolins and co-founder at Greenhood Nepal, “In 2013, there were 325 kg of pangolin scale seizures on the Araniko highway, he assumes about 1,300 pangolins must have been killed for that”.

“Our constitution has ensured equality to all citizens irrespective of their public position and influence. While some individuals found possessing such wildlife parts are arrested and sentenced to jail for several years, many in power are publicly displaying such parts at their homes and offices as objects of decoration without any legal repercussions,” says Kumar Paudel, Co-founder at Greenhood Nepal.

“Rhinos and tigers are relatively well protected because they live inside national parks and are guarded by soldiers,” explains Kumar Paudel of the group, Greenhood Nepal. “But pangolins have no such protection.”

“A new challenge in the tourism sector is the construction of new roads in various spots including inaccessible areas mainly affecting trekking tourism,” say Reshu Bashyal of Greenhood Nepal

“Today’s young students are tomorrow’s future, thus for the better future of Pangolin, it is most to aware and engage students in its conservation activities’, says Sabitri Rai from Greenhood Nepal.
